501 Receptions has been lost to the modernisation and expansion of Melbourne’s inner-west.
Its neon lights are smashed, hanging on by a wire. Climbing roses and vines stretch towards the sky, slowly engulfing the cream rendered cement facade. The building fades further and further into dilapidation.
Passing by today, I can’t help but think about other businesses and people who will struggle to make it through the current pandemic. Times were tough for many before the lockdown, how will we fare over the coming months and years as we try to navigate our way out of the bramble?
