Urban Sprawl, 2020

Days before Covid-19 lockdown, my friend and muse Lana Zilla navigated a man-made mountain of sand at the site of a huge new motorway development that surrounds my home in St Peters, Sydney.

After living for years with this looming and impending vast urban development, plus the consequential damages, vibrations, cracking of structures and fracturing of relationships, I decided to literally ‘send in the clown’. Once a huge old rubbish tip, and now slated to be hectares and hectares of ‘new green urban space’, this is an absurd and performative reclaiming of lost suburban space and history.
